Rang Dong’s Digital Transformation Journey Boosts Growth
The Hanoi-based company, Vietnam’s leading manufacturer of LED and vacuum flask products and provider of smart lighting solutions, started the digital transformation journey in 2020. Since then, Rang Dong, fully known as Rang Dong Light Source and Vacuum Flask JSC, has seen a comprehensive transformation across production, management, and workforce development through data and artificial intelligence. With a long-term strategy and strong execution capability, the company has made significant achievements in the 2020-2025 period as it shifts from a conventional manufacturing model toward a modern technology company in the digital era.
The company has achieved an annual revenue growth of between 15-20 percent in the 2020-2024 period, from annual rates of between 8-10 percent in the 2015-2020 period.
If oil defined industrial power in the 20th century, data has become the strategic fuel of the 21st. Grasping this shift, Rang Dong has built an ecosystem that collects, analyzes and processes data across R&D, product design, manufacturing, marketing and sales.
Customer interactions, production-line activities and market feedback are digitized, stored and analyzed to support real-time decision-making. Machine learning models now identify quality deviations, predict technical failures and propose production optimization in real time.
In renewable energy applications, Artificial Intelligence (AI) enhances solar power efficiency by optimizing panel angle, operating cycles and load distribution.
Smart devices such as intelligent circuit breakers combine hardware, data and AI to analyze signal patterns using FFT and classify potential fire hazards through decision-tree models like Random Forest. As a result, early warning becomes automated, accurate and independent of human monitoring.
Digital workflow
Rang Dong’s AI adoption goes beyond production and product development.
The company is systematically embedding AI into enterprise management. A value chain typically involves dozens of processes and hundreds of interconnected components. Effective AI transformation requires selecting the right processes to optimize first, rather than digitizing everything at once.
An effective AI strategy must exhibit purpose alignment, system integration, and platform consistency, said Nguyễn Đoàn Kết, Rang Dong’s Vice Chairman and Deputy General Director. He is also Head of Dual Transformation (Digital and Green).
Strategic alignment prompts AI initiatives to support the enterprise’s overarching strategic goals.
System integration requires synchronized development from hardware infrastructure and sensors to embedded software and applications.
Platform consistency ensures all technologies run on unified internal, partner, customer, IoT/IIoT, and—most importantly—data platforms.

Rang Dong advances through Gartner’s AI maturity model, evolving from API-based AI tools (Level 1) to in-house optimization and simulation (Levels 2–3).
AI is applied to product design, firmware development, application software and smart production lines.
The company’s factory now operates with 141 robots, including Vision Guided Robotics (VGR), which “see” and interpret environments through synchronized coordinate systems and advanced sensor processing.
In distribution management, AI integrated with ERP evaluates inventory, cash flow, consumption data and customer feedback. The integration enables rapid market response, optimized logistics, and predictive seasonal demand planning.
Building AI capabilities
AI transformation requires a cultural and intellectual shift across the workforce. Rang Dong meet this requirement through a structured, organization-wide education framework:
Awareness: Every employee develops basic knowledge of AI and its applications.
Basic application: Employees utilize tools such as RPA, data visualization, and virtual assistants for reporting and planning.
Advanced application: Engineers, programmers and analysts develop specialized AI solutions tailored to their departments.
Rang Dong has been using Vision Guided Robotics and AI application on its production lines to improve the product quality.
Internal knowledge-sharing between successful AI project teams accelerates adoption and builds an interdepartmental learning culture.
Rang Dong’s long-term vision includes providing each employee with a personal AI assistant and equipping every division with a Digital Twin system that mirrors operational performance, predicts bottlenecks, and recommends adjustments.
