A door sensor is one of the first items to secure our home. The device is part of the family of Bluetooth mesh products developed by Rang Dong, Vietnam’s leading manufacturer of LED products and smart lighting solution provider. Rang Dong’s door sensor works on magnetism sensing principle.

Rang Dong’s door sensor includes two parts, a sensor and a magnet.They work on the magnetism sensing principle in which opening the door is equivalent to separating the two parts, and closing the door corresponds to attaching them. A signal is immediately sent to a microprocessor which will analyze it and send the result to the display on the user’s smartphone app, showing either “opening” or “closing” on notification.

In order to control the door sensor and combine it with other Bluetooth mesh devices, we must use scene controllers or a Rang Dong app, called Rallismart. However, the scene controller can only provide several scenarios. Meanwhile, smartphone app Rallismart enables us to operate unlimited scenarios combined by various Bluetooth mesh devices.

Product features

Using a door sensor has many advantages and is highly important in securing the house. For example, when the user is in the kitchen and any one else enters the living room, the door sensor immediately notifies the user in his smartphone. In case the user forgets to close the doors to the balconies, before going to bed, a quick check with door status in the Rallismart app will show which doors are not closed yet.

The door sensor should be installed in the main door, the doors to the balcony, and those to the kid room. For double doors, the sensor is attached to one door, and the magnet is attached to the other door. For a single door, the sensor is attached to the door, while the magnet is attached to the jamb. The active distance of the sensor is more than 25 mm. Signals are transmitted instantly to the smartphone app.

Moreover, we can combine the door sensor with the other Bluetooth mesh devices to create various scenarios. For instance, a the user returns home after work, when the door opens, the entrance downlights will automatically turn on, and 30 seconds later, the lights in the living room will brighten. In another scenario combined with the air conditioner, when the door is opened, the air conditioner turns off, which helps save energy.

Guide for users

In each door sensor package, Rang Dong provides a guide for users showing the way to connect the sensor with a smartphone app and combine it with other Bluetooth mesh devices.

The door sensor should be used with a Bluetooth mesh combo of smart sensors, including home center (HC), air quality monitor PM2.5, thermal and hydro sensor, smoke sensor, and light & motion sensor.

Install Rallismart on the smartphone, then connect the app with HC. Wait for the HC to detect all the BLE devices in the house. Then set up scenarios for each device and groups of devices. After that, test again for each scenario. Depending on the number of devices and scenarios, it takes 30 minutes to 2 hours to perfectly set up the smart scenes for our home.
