Rang Dong has strict quality control for LED Highbay UFO
Thanks to the features of quality- and energy-efficient as well as longer lifespan than that of traditional lights, LED lights have emerged as the best solution for a variety of lighting applications. Especially, the high-power, super bright and energy-saving LED highbay UFO can serve well industrial purposes.
Rang Dong has been a Vietnam light source and vacuum flask factory since 1961 with a LED and lighting equipment workshop founded in 2014.
A Vietnamese light source and vacuum flask factory since 1961, Rang Dong founded a LED and lighting equipment workshop in 2014. The company is Vietnam’s only firm that has invested in ANSYS Icepak thermal management design software for LED production. Its production line also includes LED evaluating equipment under the LM80 standard, electromagnetic compatibility testing equipment, U.S. fast life-cycle testing equipment, and modern automated assembly lines with high accuracy to improve reliability and quality of LED products.
Manufacturing LED highbay UFO required a quality control process in place, such as IQC – PQC – OQC, to ensure quality from the first to the final stage. The IQC (Input Quality Control) is the component that checks reliability, harshness and parameters to meet requirements of temperature and environment before storage.
Three main stages
There are SMT (Surface Mount Technology), automated assembly and aging. They are controlled by PQC (Production Quality Control) with LEAN & 6 Sigma standard, ISO and QEWS (Quality Early Warning System). The production environment must be clean and maintained at the right temperature. A small mistake during the process may influence on the quality of LED lamps.

U.S.-branded SMT lines
This is a high speed and highly accurate line, capable of making 8.5 million drivers and modules every month. Only one operator controls the whole line from the beginning to the final step. Before mass production, pilot production has to comply with strict technology procedures to ensure all the equipment operating in standardized conditions.
Firstly, the PCB (Printed Circuit Board) is automatically loaded into the Stencil Printer machine. Solder cream is pasted on PCB automatically. Rang Dong solder paste printing machine reaches precision which meets the 6 sigma standard. Secondly, the LED chip of different types is mounted to the PCB in their registered locations. The machine can mount components of micro size and the distance between two components is 250 micrometers.
The PCB is moved to the reflow wave soldering machine. The quality of the soldering point determines the product reliability. It has nine heating zones and two cooling zones, controlled by a computer system. The defective rate in this process complies with 6 Sigma standards.
After SMT lines all the drivers and modules are rechecked by AOI (Automatic Optical Inspection) machines, which run a number of quality checks on the boards visually, such as component alignment and checking for solder bridges. It quickly detects failures and the testing electrical parameters before transferring to the assembly lines.
The drivers are made through hole inserting with the SMD lines (Surface Mount Devices). PCB is loaded on automatic sequencers, transferred to auto inserting machines. Then the drivers are soldered by the wave peak solder machines - Mann Corp. It is a U.S. advanced technology for high-quality welding, printer circuit and welding with high gloss and synchronization. Spreading silicon on drivers of LED highbay UFO protects the circuit board and minimizes environment impact. All the drivers are externally tested by the automatic testing and classification system to ensure the uniform quality
SMT high speed lines have a monthly output of 8.5 million drivers and modules.
Assembly lines
Rang Dong has many LED highbay UFO assembly lines with different powers. The lights go through the workers who are trained with three NOT criteria. Namely, they are NOT receiving defective products, NOT producing defective products and NOT transferring defective products to the next process.
The last stage: Aging
All the LED highbay UFO are plugged in the aging line with different temperatures and voltages to ensure the performance and safety for customers. Finally, the product is packed in carton boxes.
The cover and a rust-proof stainless steel hook ring has been check with anodized anti-corrosion chemicals, suitable for different environments. All the finished items are visually inspected, in particular heatsink, the ability of the lamp mounting mechanism, the optical distribution of the lamp, and heat dissipation ability are all checked.
Before storage, LED Highbay UFO is also checked for dust and vibration humidity; safety and EMC (Electronic Medicines Compendium) to ensure its quality at delivery to customers.
