Right Ventilation Fan Selection Helps Avoid Operation Hassles

Right Ventilation Fan Selection Helps Avoid Operation Hassles

April 3rd, 2026

An incorrect ventilation fan selection for our living space would often lead to weak airflow, excessive noise and costly returns. Many homeowners only discover the problem after installation and have to face removal hassles and replacement delays. Rang Dong, Vietnam's leading electrical equipment manufacturer, offers three specialized ventilation fan types designed for specific ceiling and wall installation conditions. Let’s explore the company’s guide to understand the differences of these fan types before purchasing to get the perfect product.

The latest series of Rang Dong’s ventilation fans include ceiling-mounted fans with vertical outlets for straight ductwork, ceiling-mounted fans with horizontal outlets for curved piping, and wall-mounted one-way fans for direct outdoor access.

Three Types of Rang Dong Ventilation Fans

Ceiling-Mounted Vertical Outlet Fan

This ventilation fan, model QHAT01.CD, can be used for gypsum, aluminum or wooden ceilings with airflow directed straight upward.

Designed for straight, short ductwork, it delivers exceptionally high airflow from 360 to 1,200 cb.m/h. Available in 200-mm, 250-mm and 300-mm sizes, the fans accommodate bathrooms, kitchens and spaces requiring rapid air exchange with power consumption of only 21-45 w.

Ceiling-Mounted Horizontal Outlet Fan

Model  QHAT01.CN mounts into ceilings, but extracted air turns 90 degrees to exit. Rang Dong designs this line with high static pressure to efficiently push air through curved duct sections or long piping.

Airflow ranges between 160 and 430 cb.m/h while operating extremely quietly at only 26-30 dB(A). These fans excel in residential applications where silent operation matters, such as bedrooms or living areas.

Thanks to aerodynamically optimized blade design and a motor equipped with high-quality ball bearings, model QHAT01.CN operates ultra-quietly with low noise levels.

Wall-Mounted One-Way Fan

This ventilation fan, model QHGT01.1C, mounts directly on walls without requiring ceilings or complex ductwork. Air circulates directly with the outdoor environment through a simple wall opening.

Despite simple installation, it delivers large airflow from 270 to 1,150 cb.m/h, suitable for toilets, storage rooms, work areas or locations needing quick setup. The one-way design prevents backdraft when the fan is off.

Common mistakes and consequences

  1. Vertical outlet fans for curved ductwork: Choosing the ceiling-mounted fans with vertical outlets for curved duct systems causes weak extraction and increased noise. These fans cannot generate the high pressure needed for bends, thus reducing efficiency.

  2. Horizontal outlet fans for straight ductwork: The selection simply wastes performance potential. The high static pressure design becomes unnecessary when no bends exist, and the reduced airflow rate means slower ventilation.

  3. Wall fans for ceiling applications: This particular selection creates construction challenges and compromises aesthetics, often leaving exposed ductwork or awkward positioning.

Once users make one of these mistakes, fans will fail to meet expectations, and users would face returns, shipping costs, waiting time, and ultimately still not achieve the desired air quality.

Steps for choosing ventilation fans

Matters such as location, room volume, ductwork configuration and proper sizing should be considered to ensure optimal ventilation performance, quiet operation and hassle-free installation.

Step 1: Identify installation location

Check the ceiling material or if it is for wall mounting. Assess if ductwork runs straight or requires bends. This is the most critical factor in determining the fan type.

Step 2: Calculate room volume

Calculate air changes per hour (ACH) from room volume. For living spaces, ACH should reach 10 times per hour or higher.

Formula: Required Airflow (cb.m/h) = Room Volume (cb.m) × Desired ACH.

For example, a 2.5 m × 2 m × 2.5 m bathroom (12.5 cb.m) requires 125-200 cb.m/h airflow.

Step 3: Select appropriate fan type

For ceiling mounting with straight ductwork, choose vertical outlet fans (360-1,200 cb.m/h).

For ceiling mounting with bent ductwork, choose horizontal outlet fans with strong pressure capabilities (160-430 cb.m/h).

For wall mounting with direct outdoor access, choose wall-mounted one-way fans (270-1,150 cb.m/h).

Step 4: Select proper fan size

The 200-mm diameter fan suits small rooms under 25-30 sq.m with airflow of 270-430 cb.m/h.

The 250-mm diameter type fits medium rooms 30-40 sq.m with 430-650 cb.m/h airflow, while the 300-mm diameter fan handles large rooms over 40 sq.m with 650-1,200 cb.m/h airflow.

Benefits from correct selection

When the right ventilation fan is chosen, users experience clear benefits.

Air refreshes rapidly with ACH from 10 to 22 times per hour, efficiently eliminating odors and humidity. Ventilation fans operate quietly at 26-42 dB, suitable for bedrooms and quiet areas. Installation proceeds smoothly and maintains aesthetic standards, with ceiling fans integrating seamlessly and wall fans installing flush.

The high airflow enables Rang Dong’s ventilation fans to quickly remove odors, expel polluted air and damp moisture, creating a well-ventilated and clean-living environment.

Products incorporate safety features such as thermal fuses, flame-retardant materials meeting V0 standards, dual-bearing motors for extended life and power consumption of as low as 21-45 W.

Selecting the correct fan from the beginning avoids return costs, installation labor charges, and material damage while ensuring optimal performance.
