LED rope light – an affordable, yet effective decorative fixture

LED rope light comprises of small bulbs connected with each other in a transparent long cylindrical tube and can be used both outdoors and indoors. Materials used to build the cylinder for housing LED bulbs may vary, ranging from epoxy to plastics or other transparent materials through which the light can radiate.

| Power supply | LED rope lights are available with either 120/220vAC or 12/24vDC input. They are made in an assortment of single colors and appear colorless when switched off. |
| Size | The tube diameter can be 0.5 inch (1.3 cm) or 0.375 inch (9.5 mm). |

| Tube yellowing | Rope lights with the tube made from epoxy or plastic are dried out and cracked because of sunlight. Over time, the tube turns yellow or even brown, which will in turn reduce the light yield and change the color. |
| Size | The thickness of the LED rope light tubes prevents installation. |
| Mounting | Unlike strip lights that have an adhesive backing, LED rope lights require larger mounting clips to keep them in place on the surface. |
| Low curve point | The inner wiring limits the flexibility of LED rope lights and excessive bending would lead to lighting failure. |
